My Black pair are 8inches from the seam that runs across the top part of the foot.Hope this helps

I have these same boots and they are definantely black.. So maybe you mistakenly received the grey ones.

I do apologize for the confusion. After further review, the item can look grey under certain lighting, but it is in fact a black pair of boots.
